I made it to Uganda!
I made it to Uganda!!!! π
Thank you so much for the wonderful last month in the United States. I was blessed by so many through through gifts, pledges of support, words of encouragement, sweet send offs, and so much prayer. I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you for your generosity!
I arrived in Uganda late Saturday night and am now starting to learn the lay of the land in Jinja. Uganda is still under lockdown, but we are allowed to walk around within the district. Yesterday a family from Amazima walked us around the main street in town and showed us where to get groceries, and even how to send groceries back on a motorcycle taxi (boda) so we wouldn't have to carry bags around while we continued to explore. There is a lot to learn, but the staff here has been incredibly gracious and helpful.
The house I will be living in was not ready when I arrived, so I've been staying at the most beautiful guesthouse right next to Lake Victoria. Hopefully we will be able to move into our house tomorrow and start to unpack and settle in.Please continue to pray for Uganda as the lockdown is set to be over on Friday. From what I understand, people aren't expecting for life to get back to normal immediately. The August 9th date of the start of school will definitely be pushed back a bit. I'm thankful for a bit of extra time to get settled in, but I'm looking forward to getting to work soon!
Thank you once again for your prayers and support. I have the most amazing people in my life and I am so thankful for you!
