School is in Session!!!
Hello friends and family,
I just wanted to write a quick update to let you know that The Amazima Primary School is now open. Praise the Lord! We are so grateful that after a two year delay, the primary school was finally able to welcome students full-time on campus this week. The first few days have been exciting, full of adjustments, exhausting, and filled with so much joy!
On Tuesday I was able to meet the parents of my AEP students as we explained to them how our program would run. I teared up as one by one they thanked our team for providing a place for their young adults to finish primary school. I am thankful to be on the team meeting such a specific need, but I also feel the weight of responsibility to set up the AEP program well. Please pray for wisdom for our team as we seek to serve our students well.
At this point, the AEP program is only able to serve 17 of the 324 primary students at our school. We have identified 11 more students we would like to join our program before the end of the year (although there are about 30 other students who could benefit from it as well). Our administration is currently conducting interviews and hoping to hire two more teachers for AEP. Please pray that we find the right people to join our program so we can invite the 11 other young adults (15-20 years old) who are currently in the mainstream classes to join AEP.
There is so much work to be done, but this past week I have been reminded repeatedly how futile it is to depend on my own strength. My life verse over the years has been 2 Corinthians 4:7 which says, "but we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us." I am definitely a fragile jar of clay, but God's strength is available to me and He will equip and empower me to do all that He has called me to do. Thank you for praying for me, my team, and my students as we begin the 2022 school year. I am so thankful for my faithful supporters and prayer warriors and thank God for the encouragement you are to me!

*PS I had to pause writing my update so I could let the neighbor boys, Marvinson and Mohammed, into my yard so we could chase their goats who had jumped over the shared fence into our yard. What a fun 10 minute cardio break!
Glad you’re feeling better, and PTL that school is open! Praying for you and your fellow teachers!
